Threshold Children’s Ministries
There is a story about Jesus’ love for children in the Bible. It is found in the book of Matthew, the 19th chapter:
"13Then little children were brought to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked those who brought them.
"14Jesus said, 'Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.'"
Another time, in Matthew 18, Jesus taught us that we can learn something from the children in our midst:
"2He called a little child and had him stand among them. 3And he said: 'I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. 4Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.'"
We encourage families to have their children with them in worship. We can all learn from their reckless and unencumbered expression in worship. If they want to dance while they worship, let them dance! Let them sing and clap! “Do not hinder them,” Jesus says. Indeed, perhaps we should be a little more like them. So, we will do our best, as a church, to make them feel welcome.
Of course, we do understand that sometimes it is very difficult for the child and the parents. So we do offer Child Care for those children 4 and under. The safety of your children is important to us all, so we issue background checks to all our volunteers.
